A quick scare with a stealthy twist.
About the Game#
Boo! is a playful stealth jam game where you try to scare kids without getting caught in the act. The challenge is balancing aggression and patience: move too quickly and you get spotted, wait too long and momentum drops. This build aimed for a clear objective, quick rounds, and readable stealth tension.
Core Loop#
- Stalk opportunities to trigger a scare.
- Break line of sight before retaliation.
- Reposition and repeat while staying unseen.
- Chain successful scares to maintain control.
What I Built For This Jam#
- A concise browser-first jam build with immediate onboarding.
- Stealth-and-scare gameplay loop centered on timing.
- Fast restart cadence for short retry sessions.
- Tone-forward presentation to support the theme.
Jam#
Submission to Godot Wild Jam #74.
Reflection#
This project was a good exercise in keeping mechanics simple but expressive. If I continue it, I want to add more enemy behavior variety and a clearer scoring structure for mastery runs.
Collaboration#
I made Boo! with my daughter, Fae (now 14, and younger at the time). During this early phase of our jam projects, she contributed to the visual identity work, including the title screen and cover art.
